The noun "fruit" can be both countable and uncountable.


uncountable

Meaning: food that contains seeds, like apples, oranges, pears, etc.
Example sentence: My youngest son loves fruit, but he doesn't like vegetables much.

countable

Meaning: a particular kind or category of fruit
Example sentence: He really loves tropical fruits like mangoes, pawpaws and pineapples.
