The noun "work" can be both countable and uncountable.


uncountable

Meaning: a job done for money, or any productive activity
Example sentence: My uncle Bill is very lazy, and he's never done a full day's work in his life.

countable

Meaning: something created by a writer, painter, musician, or other artist
Example sentence: Van Gogh was a great painter, but very few people bought his works while he was alive.
