hustler (1) American and Australian English

Meaning: a person, usually male, who has sex for money

For example:

  • Every night hustlers hang around in the park looking for customers.

  • We need to teach hustlers about AIDS and tell them how to protect themselves from HIV infection.

Note: usually refers to male prostitutes whose clients are gay men

Variety: This slang is typically used in American and Australian English but may be used in other varieties of English too.
