Meaning: a strong feeling of love or infatuation for someone

For example:

  • Ashley has a crush on this cute boy in her English class and she spends all day thinking about him, though she's never spoken to him.

  • Dr. Richards was a good-looking man, so he was used to young nurses developing crushes on him.

Note: This word usually refers to the sort of intense but short-lived infatuation young people can feel for someone like a pop star, a teacher, or someone they know who's very good-looking.
