Meaning: behaviour that reveals an over-estimation of one's own importance or abilities
For example:
- Mike decided to run for mayor, but most people dismissed it as just another one of his ego trips.
- Driving around town in a red Ferrari was such an ego trip for Trevor. Watching people stare at him in awe and envy made him feel an inch or two taller.
