fanny (1) American English

Meaning: a person's buttocks or bottom

For example:

  • After walking around town for a couple of hours, Liz and Debbie were very tired and all they wanted to do was sit on their fannies for a while.

  • Bob boarded the plane but his fanny was so huge that he had real trouble getting into his seat.

Note: WARNING!! This word is also used in British and Australian English, but in those places it means a woman's vagina. In order to avoid misunderstandings and embarrassment, it is best for non-native speakers to avoid using this word.

Variety: This slang is typically used in American English but may be used in other varieties of English too.
