fuck up

Meaning: to do something badly, to ruin something

For example:

The boss was really angry. "All you had to do was make sure the figures I took into the meeting were the right ones! How the hell could you fuck that up?"
Damn it! Terry's fucked up the preferences on my computer again! I can't even check my email!

Note: The phrasal verb "fuck up" can take a subject between the verb and the preposition, as in "to fuck the job up", or it can take a subject after the preposition, as in "to fuck up the job".
