hickey American English

Meaning: a mark on the neck or face caused by a lover biting or sucking the skin, a love bite

For example:

  • Just don't gimme another hickey, Jason. My dad will kill me!

  • Susie drives the boys crazy by coming to class with two or three fresh hickeys on her neck.

Variety: This is typically used in American English but may be used in other varieties of English too.
