Meaning: the lowest possible level, a low-point in someone's life

For example:

  • Confidence in the economy is at rock bottom. Everyone's worried about losing their job or seeing their company go bankrupt.

  • George hit rock bottom after losing his job, his savings and his family, and realised that he'd lose his life too if he didn't stop drinking.
