Abo Australian English Taboo

Meaning: an Australian Aborigine, Aboriginal, koori

For example:

  • Did you know that Abos have been living in Australia for about fifty thousand years?

  • My grandma used to tell me old stories about white people inviting whole tribes of Abos out for family picnics, and then killing them all by giving them bread made out of poisonous flour.

Note: This is an offensive word that you should never use when speaking to an Australian Aborigine.

Origin: short for "Aborigine"

Warning! This is very bad language. If you are a non-native speaker, you are advised not to use it. (You could cause resentment or anger if you use it inappropriately.)

Variety: This slang is typically used in Australian English but may be used in other varieties of English too.
