Meaning: (in phrase to come unstuck) to fail, to have plans not work as intended

For example:

  • The team played really well throughout the season, but they came unstuck in the final game and lost the championship title.

  • No-one imagined that the economy could come unstuck so badly, so no-one was sure what to do to fix it.
