Concept questions for Present Perfect + for

Unread postby manue » Mon Apr 24, 2006 11:58 am

Hello,

I am working with the sentence is 'He's lived here for five years'

And my concept questions so far are:

- When did he move here? 5 years ago

- Does he live here now? Yes

- How long has he lived here for? 5 years

Could you please tell me if they are useful? and could you think of others I could use?

Thank you.

present perfect

He's lived here for five years.
short for
He has lived here for five years.
This sentence is in the present perfect. In this situation it means that he moved to this place five years ago and he still lives there now.
As opposed to:
He lived there for five years.
This sentence is in the past simple and it means that he lived there for five year at some time in the past, but he doesn't anymore.
