Do you think it is useful to listen to songs on lesson?

Unread postby annarost » Fri Feb 15, 2013 11:48 am

Good evening!
I am the teacher of Spanish and English languages. The level of my students is
B1. I have never listened to English or Spanish songs on the lesson, however I
heard that songs are very useful and are very good way to learn new words. What
is your opinion? Do you listen to music on lessons?
Thank you!

Well as per my self I have not tested the songs but what I have tried is the films with English subtitles. For me it was one of the best ad effective way as most of the time you learn very well the new words and usage of them with the help of posture and gesture of the character.

This sounds informal but useful and fun way to learn.

I like using music in the ESL classroom. I think students appreciate using different methods of learning. You can do a simple gap fill, arrange the lyrics in order, or talk about rhyming words, useful expressions, or culture.

Also, check out this website below with lots of information about using music in the classroom.

All the best!
