Here is Vs Where is

Hi,

I have a sentence like "Here is the cup". If I want to make a question for this, what would it be? I don't think I should use a "where" question, right?

as you know we have two types of questions in english.
Yes/No questions and WH questions.
therefore, when you want to make a question out of your sentence you can use 'where' i.e., Where is the cup? as a Wh question and 'Is here the cup' as a yes/ no question.

To answer what is the question of the sentence "Here is the cup", I would like to clarify the word "Here".
Here is origially adverb of place. In this sentence, Here acts as subject. Therefore, i think this sentence is rather not correct. It should be "Here, it is, the cup". And the question will be "Where is the cup?".

I believe the sentence "Here is the cup" is correct as it is extracted from a children story book.

Anyway, in my opinion, I think a question for a sentence such as this cannot be made. It's just a kind of introducing something to someone. So it would be better not to make any question for it. What do you think?

You migh be right if the sentence was extracted from a reliable source.
It may use for a certain specific purpose without the need of questioning. It may confuse some language analyser as Languge changes its meaning or grammatical structure according to social references.

It must be the end of the question.
