something happened with me yesterday

Hi,
I'm happy to join this teacher's community as since a long time I have been searching for a forum where can I talk with teachers and discuss our different issues.So nice to meet you pals
First I wanted to tell you about something happened to me yesterday.I teach grade one english and yesterday they were too hyper active more than any time else lots of arguing , lots of side talks and lots of nagging I don't know what happened to them.I even use with them our paying attention sign (make a certain clap) they stay silent for one minute then they return back to the same situation which made me became evil at the end of the day and any one talked I punished him by standing at the end of the class.And I was furious and gloomy till the end of the school day and all of the lesson shouting
I didn't like that but what shall I do else can anyone tell me what was the actio I was supposed to take
