The do say black and white ain’t colours

Here is the Colour of the Year for 2016 chosen by paint company Benjamin Moore:

It’s WHITE :)

Which raises two questions:

Is white a colour?
What’s YOUR colour of the year?

I think Benjamin Moore would define colour as anything that is used as paint. When I think of white, I think of Aikido. There is a belief that all students should begin training with an open mind, there’s actually a book “Zen mind, beginner’s mind”. I think white is full of possibilities

In my opinion, white is as a paper. The future is a white paper. Our future is written and contributed by ourselves. What will we do that will create our world. We do not exactly know about what will happen next, thus what the next year looks like that depends on our actions.If we want beautiful colors, please behave kindly for our future, our earth, our next generations.

Just my two pennies’ worth. As I understand it white is not a colour, being the combination of all colours. Black too is not a colour, being the absence of all colours. My favourite colour is grey, but since grey is an equal combination of white and black it may not be a colour either :) So if I have to choose a “real” colour I would have to say yellow (with a touch of brown).

Idiomatically, colors are anything we can see that has what is comonly called color including white and black.
Technically it’s a bit different.
If we were talking about sound, white and black would be loud and soft. If a musician plays a C on the flute, we could say he played a soft sound. We could say he played a C. If he played a C on the trumpet, we could say he played a loud sound. We could say he played a C.
Are all loud sounds C? or all soft sounds a C? Of course not. Soft and loud are not about the pitch, which is C.
Softness or loudness can be added to any sound. C is a frequency, and loudness and softness are the amplitude, or the strength of the sound.
In light, red or green or blue are talking about frequency. This is the hue. White and black require a different term: shade.
Our eyes can see only red green and blue. All the other colors are created for us by our amazing brain! When there are all the colors it is white. When there are no colors, it is black.
All the amazing colors we see happen inside our visual cortex. Other animals can not enjoy the amazing colorful world we see.

During a long time I said that the white and black is my favorites colours. I discovered that it’snt in my palette, so I vote for the gray. :-) I think that my colour of the year it will be orange, my hair it’s like that.

Black is nothing but the comperative perception of the surroundings.It cannot be seen.
