You Already Speak English
Posted by: Josef EssbergerHere are some words we use in English that are also “international words” – you see and hear them almost everywhere, that is in every country. So even if you are starting to learn English, you already speak it! Like many words in English, some of these words have been “borrowed” from other languages.
- hello
- football
- telephone, phone
- hotel
- taxi
- toilet
- museum
- TV
- pizza
- sandwich
- restaurant
- city
- hamburger
- video

Juan Abaunza says:
Dear sirs,
I was reading about the English letters and I realized that some words are not English but come from a different language, like pizza, that is Italian, Hamburger is German (Hamburg), toilet is French (toilette), restaurant is also French (restaurer), museum is Greek (mouseion), and last, hotel is also French (hôtel). Therefore we can’t say that someone already speaks English when they are actually using foreign words to this language.
