I agree with TheStephen, I'm not sure if there is always a single verb to replace a phrasal verb but it's hard to think of one that doesn't have a replacement.

It really depends on your level. There aren't many grammatical differences but there are differences in pronunciation, vocabulary, slang and expressions used. One thing to say is that people from the UK understand the pronunciation and vocab of the US very well due to the number of films and TV show...

My advice is to do a lot of research and make sure you have enough money. I travelled by myself and it was a fantastic experience. Be open and friendly and you will make lots of new friends.

Is there anything specific that you need advice on?
