Johnson, i have kinda some experience. Let me ask you some questions:

1. How old are you? :R:
2. Where do u wanna go? :R:
3. Why do u wanna go abroad? :R:
4. What do u expect from your stay abroad? :R:

Answer these questions and i will give you an advice. It's quite hard to give general advices...But lets try ;)

Ok.These are my answers:
1.I'm 19 years old now.
2.I want to go to NUS(Singapore).
3.I want to go abroad because I think live alone will make me confident and know how to solve my problem,I don't want to depend so much on my family .Moreover, studying abroad is my dream and I have a careful preparation for this since I have learnt in high school.
4.Firstly,I think a degree from a foreign university will help me to have a goob job. Secondly,I hope that the environment in a new country, new culture will make me more creative and active than I used to because there were some times I knew that I could do somethings but I didn't have enough brave to do , so I lost it.
5.I want to learn about business , I'm a student in Business Administration major and I want to continue my strength.

I am a student of business administration, too. I had exactly the same reasons as u have when i decided to go abroad! You are absolutely correct about the fact that living abroad for a while makes you stronger in facing problems and find out who you really are. For me i can say i started to live MY life when i was abroad. Now, more than two years later i'll return back to my home country but i know it is just a stop. I wanna continue. Staying abroad makes you less afraid of doing things you wanna do.And it makes you self confident.

What i would suggest is that you simply tell your mum exactly what you posted here because these are good, honest and absolutely logical reasons!! Tell her that you will not forget about her just because you are abroad (that was my mum's fear!). I know it will be a hard fight! I experienced the same! I wish you good luck with that!

But note: It is never a shame when you feel not strong enough to stay abroad once you went! You can always decide to come back! It is a quite hard fight in the beginning. Please keep us informed about your success! I wish you from the bottom of my heart to reach that goal. I know what a nice experiences it is!

I'll tell my mum about that but I'm not sure about the result . But whatever happens I also thank you for all of your advices. I feel much better now and I'm sure that if my mum accept or not I'll go abroad next year when I have enough TOEFL score

Well said, Johnson! Leaving your home to better build your future is one of your basic rights! If your family understands this it's better, but if not, leave anyway. They will understand later...

Hi there Johnson,

Why don't you tell your mom the exact reasons you posted here? Try to talk to her calmly, don't get nervous, let her see you're not a kid anymore and that going abroad will help you develop your future.

Maybe she's just afraid and worries about you. Are you an only child? I know that would not be the reason, it's just curiosity :D Whatever happens, though, remember that your mom loves you and will eventually understand what's better for you. Don't worry, I'm sure she will let you go. She's just worried about her kid ;)

Thanks Johnson ! here is my opinions :
Johnson wrote:1.I'm 19 years old now.
I think you can go and live "away from your parents".

But don't lose contact with them and others parts of your family and of your friends.
Johnson wrote:2.I want to go to NUS(Singapore).
Why not ? I've never been to. Is it away from there where you live now ? heu... where do you live now ?

Living away from your parents can only be a good experience (according to me), alone or with others students (I live with new others students since I've begun university. Alone ? no "house contact"... but autonomy !). I can only encourage you to live and study in a different country (that is what I want later).

Good job, yes. But the most important is and will stay to love your job !

New cultures, new habits, new ways of being, thinking, etc. I encourage the diversity !

And it is never too late. [Better late than never, do we say.]

Good ! I am a student in management, too !

Don't think too much about money. Money doesn't have any perfume and doesn't make us happy.
