At first, I think that English subject is simply a subject in which you are going to learn how to speak it and how to create a sentence that has no grammatically error. But, during my college days, it was the time that I found out that there are a lot of English stuffs that you might going to learn about it such as literatures and many other things. It was the time that I realized that English is not simply a subject wherein a students were though on how to speak the language but also how to appreciate the subject.
I wonder why many universities (in countries where English is not the national language) teach English literature. It seems like a waste of time. How will reading English literature help someone communicate in English?
