doubt about a structure

Post by newdreams » Fri May 26, 2017 7:19 am

Dear all,
context:
My mother bore a son when I was at seventh standard. So, can I say,
"I had a brother when I was at seventh standard."
Thank you
Edmond

Your sentence is not wrong, but it would probably be more idiomatic to say something like:

My brother was born when I was in seventh standard.
