"kill two birds with one stone" is formal?

Post by Mlearner »

Dear friends and teachers,

I wonder if I can use the expression "kill two birds with one stone" in a formal letter or not. In addition, I cannot understand whether it has a negative impression on the reader due to the word "kill."

Many thanks

It just means achieving two things with one action, so it is not negative. It is quite an informal expression, so I wouldn't use it in a very formal letter like a job application.
Hope that helps.
