Sentence building using connectives

Post by simsky »

Please could you help with with this question, I tried many alternatives. Below is two of my best answers, but still don't seem to be grammarly correct.

- But before I can either work in Germany I too need to study German.
- But I too need to study German before I can either work in Germany.

Hi...

Your effort is admirable...

But, it appears you are trying to fix a 'sentence construction problem' with grammar.

(And, that is something like; trying to open an door with your foot, instead of using your hand). : )

I mean that in a good way... I just want to point-out that it is 'a grammar tool' which you are attempting to apply to solve a problem; which is not related to grammar.

You should say something like this...
Before I would be-able to work in Germany, I need to study the German language. (This is more definitive).
or, I need to study the German language before I an able to work in Germany.

But hey, there's lots of ways to express the same idea with different words or sentence structures.

Let's look at the sentence logic:
<when> Before <who> I <when> would <what> be able to work <where> in Germany, <who> I <when> need <what> to study German. (More precisely; 'study the German language' could be at the end of this sentence).

I hope this helps... All the Best!

Robert
