Your homework has proved inconclusive

Post by Frieda » Sun Feb 24, 2019 2:58 pm

"your homework has proved inconclusive".
"Sure you needn`t have expected me to repeat it.
Is this correct or is it better to say
" You mustn`t have been expecting me to repeat it" or is both wrong  and I should answer
" You can`t be expecting me to repeat it".

How about:

Do you want me to do it again?

Your other answers might be seen as sarcastic (as you no doubt intend)

Thank you for your quick response. I understand what you mean.
But my english teacher wants us to answer these question with can not or/must not / or need not.

This is my problem, because I have the same feeling as you. All sounds not very friendly. :-?

OR

You cannot be expecting me to do it again, surely?

But this is less idiomatic.
