Would have v3 and will have v3

Post by Derko » Wed Nov 18, 2020 6:47 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm am learning English and haven't understood the topic.

In the book i am working say that " to talk about an unreal past situation - that is an imaginary situation or a situation that might have happened in the past, but didn't - we use would have +v3" and "to say that we think a past situation actually happned, we use will have v3"

the train journey was quite comfortable, although ı would have preferred to fly.

I'm sure by now you will have heard about yesterday's robbery at the supermarket.

The point i haven't understood is that sense is given with the structure to sentences. Can you give me more information about the structure and similar structure. purpose, difference between the structure and similar structure etc.

thank you!

"will" is real, likely, very possible to happen

I will do something => is a promise or statement of fact that implies certainty

"would" = is unreal, unlikely, maybe impossible to happen

I would do it if... => a condition must be met to enable you to do it. If that condition is never met, then you will NOT do it, therefore your statement that you would do it is VERY UNCERTAIN.
