Alumni of Canadian Universities or Canadian Alumni?

Post by hyouhaku »

Hi folks, just came across this organization ACU - Alumni of Canadian Universities

This club has been around for quite some time, now they are creating a new ultimate frisbee team: ACUUT - Alumni of Canadian Universities Ultimate Team.

Here is the question: does this name sound kind of "redundant" to you? Would you use Canadian Alumni Ultimate Team or another name instead?

There's a reason to keep 'Universities' in the name.
The word 'alumni' often refers to former university students but it can also mean past members of any other group or organisation. So without 'Universities' in the name, it could be any group of Canadians.
