Using same phrase twice with "or" in-between

Which sentence is better? Is there is a better way to convey the meaning?

I am often online in my game to make sure that I don't get attacked or to make sure nothing else bad happens.

or

I am often online in my game to make sure that I don't get attacked or that nothing else bad happens.

Both are possible but #2 is more idiomatic (natural). I recommend #2.
