A lot of Engish questions. They make me crazy!

Hello everybody,

While studying Engish, I find some strange sentences. They are very difficult for me to guess or to understand. I think I do need your help. It's the best way. Will you please help me with those?

1. The sentence: "Why, hello, Sam ! How's everything with you?". The "Why" word - what does it mean ?

2. About tag question: I'm early, aren't I or ain't I? In my country most of people use "Aren't I" but my teacher of English doesn't agree. He uses "ain't I". Which is correct ?

3. Some personal pronouns such as: I, you, they, we, I can read but when they are writen I've (I'll), you've (you'll), they've (they'll), we've (we'll) then I can't. How to read them correcty?

4. "So long" in communicational Engish - what does it mean?

5. Where (or While) there is a life, there is hope. Which one is correct ?

I'm not an English teacher or anything but I willl try and help you.

1. When why is used in your sentence, it represents a mild surprise. It's similar to writing, "Oh, hello, Sam!"

2. Ain't is not a formal word. He must be American and an idiot.

3. You will just have to keep practising. For example:

I'll sounds like aisle.
You've = Yoove
We've = Weave
We'll = Wheel

4. It could mean very long or goodbye, depending on the text.

5. Though, where is appropriate for your sentence, if you omit a, the sentence, "While there is life, there is hope," sounds good to me too.
