We want to invite our foreign teacher to give a lecture,how should I say to him ,more politely?Thank you !

just saying "thank you" is polite. You can also express your gratitude in a number of different ways and reinforce your words.

Example 1: I really am grateful to you for giving the lecture.

Example 2: I know every one else is grateful to you but I want to personally thank you.

In both instances offering to shake their hand at the same time adds emphasis.
