Somebody sent an artificial nightingale to the Emperor one day .It made just as much of a hit as the real one.
What's "as much of a hit as" mean here?

It means the 'Emporer' was just as pleased with the artificial one as he would have been with a real one.

In this instance a 'hit' means popularity as in a hit song or a hit stage play.

Example: Someone asks you if you liked your new Teacher you could say "he (or she) is a hit with me"
