Funny, this is something I say a lot these days.

This is a quotation from the Bible. It means if you act in a certain manner then the results will mirror your actions.
Example 1: If you are rude to people then they will be rude back.
Example 2: If you swear in front of your children then they too will swear in front of others.
Example 3: If you drive crazy then sooner or later you will have an accident.
I hope these examples give you some idea of the use.
The derivation is simple. If you sow Rice you will get Rice, not Wheat or Corn.

Far from it, I detest all religions and the idiots who expound them. I am however well read including the Bible, Koran and others.
