This is an american slang. The 'Z' meaning sleep. "Z's"
pronounced 'Zees'
Another colloquial way of saying the same thing is to say "If you are tired take 40 winks" or even "if you are tired, have a nap"
It is then just a slang way of saying "if you are tired have a sleep"
