I know that just memorize idioms can be boring and most of the time.... useless. The way I learn is to read English article that you like. There are always idiom mixing up in the story and you can guess the meaning from the content. You can try one good website that you can read many kind of stories with the meaning of idioms and difficult words at the bottom. Quite fun and convenient.Just follow the link below

In order to be well up on what people are saying today , talk to people! That is, participate in forums and chats with natives or people living in English speaking countries. They're usually in contact with such language on a daily basis.
And, if you don't know what it means... ask. We're all willing to share our knowledge as best we can.
