What's 'girl friend' relevant to??

Post by yali »

Hi there
when a girl talks about her friend and wants to specify the gender as a female friend, how does she put so that it doesn't sound that she is a Lesbian? Because recently I was just told not to say 'girl friend' or 'boy friend' even though you are simply just friends. If you can help, that's appreciated. Thanks.

A very nice question, yali!

I am also always puzzled when I want to specify the gender of my friend and underline that we are just friends... I say "my bosom friend" or "my female friend"

but I would like also to know if there is any stable word-combination :?:

Tora, thanks for your response. Eventually I got a 2nd supporter. I've got a perfect answer for us. If you go Grammar help desk- "Why can't I say 'gril friend or boy friend' ",you'll view the answer. Have a nice day.
