Assuming that she is joking, as I suspect, the apartment is crawling with spiders and snakes.

LOL, so you can use it that way I'll incorporate it in my vocabulary like that then :-D but I think I'm good, I think she's not literally using the word, she just use it to refer the birds and other animal in the area.

She could mean birds and other animals in the area, but why does she say "exotic"? It suggests she is being ironic.

I suspect her "new" apartment is actually old (has history), untidy/dirty (has character) and full of insects (exotic local wildlife). :mrgreen:
