in doing so & in so doing

Post by kembara »

Which one is correct when we wish to reinforce something after a sentence for example?
1. ...I proceeded with it, in so doing....
2. ...I proceeded with it, in doing so....

In what way can we use both phrases?

Thanks.

"I proceeded with it. In doing so, I realized that I shouldn't have!"

I don't know how you would use the other one...
