Hello. I'll really appreciate it if you help me with the following:
is it possible to use "also" in the sentence and does it go with "to"
"He asked me to read and translate the article and also to retell it'
Maybe, "as well as retell" or just "and retell".
Thank you very much for your help.

1. He asked me to both read and translate the article and also to retel it.
2. He asked me to both read and translate the article and to retel it as well.
3. He asked me to both read and translate the article and to retel it too.

I think that using the word also in front of an infinitive isn't grammatically wrong but I prefer 2 & 3 to 1.

In addition i think it could be said this way below

He also asked me not only to both read and translate the article but retel it as well.

I think the way you have it written here, you should include the “to” before “retell”. Although, it would not be incorrect to omit the word “to” from the sentence, it sounds better to have it in there. Here are some other ways you could write it:

He asked me to read, translate and also retell the article.
He asked me to read, translate and retell the article.
He asked me to read and translate the article as well as to retell it.
