It sounds better to say “sound an alert” or “sound an alarm” when you are talking about something that will make a noise, such as a bell or a siren. You could also say “raise an alert” if you are referring to just alerting people to a risk or danger without having a physical alarm. For example, you might say “if that occurs we will need to raise an alert and send all people at risk an email about the situation.”

Sound sounds better to me than raise.
