Could the sentence #1

1. Reportedly, he was shot in the hand. be said this way below
2. He was reportedly shot in the hand.

Is #2 grammatically correct? (#2 is not my choice)

I've read in a grammar book that in #1, if I understood it properly, "Reportedly" could be seen as an adverbial sentence consisting of one word only, called adverb sentence.

All right but how it is possible to put it between was ___ shot without any grammar problems?
In #2 reportedly is an adverb for me only and nothing else.
How was he shot? Reportedly.

He was brutally shot in the hand.
How was he shot? Brutally.

For the two sentences,

1. Reportedly, he was shot in the hand.
2. He was reportedly shot in the hand.

Sentence 2 is also grammatically correct, because the word "reportedly" is a sentence adverb.
Look at the following sentence from Longman Dictionary.
Her husband's assets are reportedly worth over $15 million.
