1>Bob uses the van for picking up groceries.
2>Bob uses the van to pick up groceries.
3>Most people now use their cars for going shopping.

Are there any differences between those sentences?

i don't think there is any difference between these two expressions, however we may use 'to do sth' pattern more often.

>Bob uses the van for picking up groceries.

I think that both are right. There is only grammatical differences. when we use for we should use " verb +ing) after it and then we use to we should put the verb in the infinitive.
