I need some help on ...my grammar test, which took place about a week ago. Not to check my answers, as much as to see if it is possible to have multiple (but correct) answers. Tnxs in advance...


1. While he was watching TV, he (this other guy...or not) ___________ the video-game. (v. play)
I put this --- he played the video-freakin'-game.
but,no ... this manwitch teacher,scribbled over it
he was playing


2. I don't know where they live/ where do they live .
((imagine, we had to choose between this two) which one (or two) is correct?)


3. She was working in this factory for ten years.
How long has she worked?
(nothing, she just overwrote the worked part! )

4. He had gone out before I told him to buy me a medicine.
When had he gone? or is it when HAS he gone, or is it...


5. (On use of Have to and Must)
You have to tell me everything about your new job.
I must be on time for classes.
---I got myself nills on this---

6. She will be staying with us next year.
... I dunno... what to put here to be correct, and not corrected... What CAN I put here, instead of the underlined, what DOES make sense --- anything ?

1- in the first sentence, we can say ( While he was watching TV, he played the video-game.) if the sentence is about the same person. in this sentence since the doer of the action is the same which is the pronoun (HE), i think it is justified to assume that the sentence is about the same person. On the other hand, if it is obvious that there is a different subject in each phrase, then the teacher's answer is the right one.

6- (She will be staying with us next year.), here you can say ( she is staying with us next year) where the present tense here is used to refer to an event in the future.

For number four i don't really know:))

1. While he was watching TV, he played the video game besides. (If it's about 2 persons the past continuous tense ought to be used so as to contrast the actions one to another.
2. I don't know where they live. (A statement, not a question)

3. She's worked in this factory for ten years. (How long has she worked? For ten years.)

4. He had gone out before I told him to buy me a medicine.
When had he gone? It had happened before I told him to buy me a medicine.

5. A: Hey, you have to tell me everything about your new job.
B: I am sorry, I can't, I must go to be on time for classes.

6a. She will be staying with us this time next year. (for example)
6b. She is staying with us next year.
6c. She is going to stay with us next year.
6d. She stays with us for some time every year.
6e. By the year 2020 she will have every year been staying with us for a month for 25 years.
