I need your help again!

Does the following phrase in bold sound natural in English? I have been warned that it is not widely used, so I need your professional opinion.

If I'm not mistaken, the film starts at 6.
or
They're coming on Friday, if I'm not mistaken.

If it is not really used in spoken English, then what is the alternative?

Most native English speakers know and may use the very normal expression "If I'm not mistaken..." :)

it's a bit formal; a casual version is "I think"

I like this phrase- it sounds polite.
