Phrasal verbs = verb with same meaning

One of my students told me that there is a verb to match every phrasal verb (in meaning). I am not convinced about this but willing to live and learn!
Can you help with a verb to match meaning of 'falling apart' and 'work out' (as in problem solving)
Many thanks
Chris

I'm not sure whether a single verb can always be found to replace a phrasal verb, but it is often the case.

Falling apart: collapsing, disintegrating, breaking, disattaching.

Working out: solving, examining, dissecting, figuring, calculating, computing.

I agree with TheStephen, I'm not sure if there is always a single verb to replace a phrasal verb but it's hard to think of one that doesn't have a replacement.
