The WORD "Be"

I would like to ask about the word "be".
Is there meaning itself (only) the word 'be"? Like other words, get, take, put?
We can see in dictionary (with oxford) the meaning of be = exist, remain, live. I think sometimes it has strong and important meaning.
Ex."You must be at the police station tomorrow" It means the present of the person is must." he should be at office".But one educated man told me that"be" hasnt any meaning itself (only). I don't think it is true. Any words alone doesn't comlete to express the idea, that is My thought.
Ex_some one said :"get", or take._doesn't expree the complete meaning or requires _what should "get? when should "get?. some one said: "be"_doesn't complete to express the idea. see this" To be or not to be'. If 'be" meaning less , what does this meaning? .Many word are used in different meaning, that doesn't mean the word hasn't any meaning. So may I know which is right? Thanks
