Preposition question

Post by xxjnette »

The following is an excerpt from a paragraph explaining how to find the lightest dog while using the scale only twice.

... Last, measure the weight of two dogs in the lighter group. In this way, you can find the lighter dog 'in' two times.

Instead of the highlighted 'in', can I correctly use any other prepositions, such as 'by', 'at' or 'on'?

I'd really appreciate your help,
Thanks in advance

"in" seems to be the only possibility.

...in two steps.
