the meaning of "Leave the others in a ditch."

Post by lizziecn »

It comes from a book Tombquest, which context is "We will cut them down. Leave the others in a ditch, but bring me the boy. Whatever he knows of his mother we will wring from him.”
Does the line "Leave the others in a ditch." mean kill someone to death?
Many thanks in advance for your help

A ditch is a trench dug by the side of the road to collect water. The meaning is that the others are killed and left by the side of the road and the boy is taken.
