Help with references and definite and indefinite articles

Post by SemCur »

Hi everyone,

I am having a problem with definite articles when referencing to some literature. So, what option do you find correct:

1) Furthermore, application of SVD in HSE is also explained in a reference [10]. (It sounds ok to me, but it is specific reference so probably this one is not correct).

2) Furthermore, application of SVD in HSE is also explained in the reference [10]. (This one makes sense, but when pronouncing it, it sounds a bit odd).

3)Furthermore, application of SVD in HSE is also explained in reference [10].

You just ignore the abbreviations. They are not important for my question.
I must emphasize I am translating a research paper for its publishing in one magazine, so I really need a fast and accurate answer.

Thank you in advance!

Assuming that [10] is the number of the reference:

Furthermore, application of SVD in HSE is also explained in reference 10. :ok:

OR MAYBE

Furthermore, application of SVD in HSE is also explained in Reference 10. :ok:

(Depends how the references are formatted.)
