Secretary by profesion

Post by susieq »

Hi Everybody,

Could you please tell me if my English translation in correct/makes sense within the context? Also could you tell me if my punctuation is correct with the ellipses...... after "teacher by profession." This is from the first page of an author introducing herself in the preface of her book. This is the very first sentence of her introduction.

My attempt: Teacher by profession.......a graduate of life, single mother of two children.

Thank you so much. {-:

It seems ok but not sure why you have the ellipsis. It might make more sense as:

Teacher by profession ... a graduate of life ... single mother of two children

OR

Teacher by profession, a graduate of life, single mother of two children

Also, "single mother of two" would normally be enough, thus:

Teacher by profession ... a graduate of life ... single mother of two
Teacher by profession, a graduate of life, single mother of two

And you use an article for "graduate" but the others - unbalanced. So:

Teacher by profession ... graduate of life ... single mother of two
Teacher by profession, graduate of life, single mother of two
