Hello, I am new at here so if i opened the topic wrong part im sorry. I need a help about the word of "Tor" Here is sentence. :)
"Tor, in that language, means a bush; and hence tory, a robber, or bushman; because robbers often secrete themselves in the bushes."

'Tor' is quite an old fashioned English word meaning a rocky hill or peak. For instance, the hill at Glastonbury, a place in England, is called 'Glastonbury Tor'. I think perhaps it means something different in another language or languages ( the Internet suggests Hindi maybe), as the English meaning of 'tor' doesn't really fit with your example sentence.
