active and passive voice

Post by enggrammar » Thu Jul 06, 2017 6:50 pm

I'm a grad student and English is my first language, but embarrassingly, I am completely confused about writing in active and passive voice.

I am writing a personal statement for a medical application and I need to write in active voice. If there is anyone who can read the paragraph (which I will send privately) and identify the passive voice and replace any words with active voice alternatives, I would be ever so grateful :)

I look forward to your reply!

Kind Regards,

When using the active voice, the subject performs the action noted by the main verb. When using the passive voice, the subject is acted upon by another agent or an unknown something.

For example:
I play cricket.
Cricket is played by me.
